LCF Testing to ISO 12106 and ASTM E606
Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) testing is a growing area of materials testing, driven in particular by increasing demand from the aerospace, automotive and power generation industries. ISO 12106 and ASTM E606 specify the standard practice for strain controlled fatigue testing, used for simulating mechanical loading into the plastic region. This testing is typically carried out at very high temperatures to replicate the service conditions experienced by turbine blades in both gas turbines and jet engines.
Instron has supplied integrated LCF testing systems across the world for many years; if you would like to find out more about what we can offer and the benefits of choosing an Instron solution, please visit our LCF system page here.
A related application area is Thermomechanical Fatigue (TMF) testing where mechanical loading of the test specimen is combined with simultaneous thermal cycling through induction heating and air cooling. To find out more about this highly complex area of materials testing, please visit our TMF systems page here.
